About the position

The Data and Evaluation Analyst position at the University of South Carolina's School of Medicine Greenville is responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting data to evaluate the effectiveness of the medical education curriculum and support accreditation efforts. This role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and administration to oversee course and program evaluations, develop surveys, and generate institutional reports, thereby contributing to data-driven decision-making and strategic planning within the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop multiple reports summarizing student, course, and program-level data and performance.
  • Generate individual student performance reports for the Student Evaluation and Promotion Committee.
  • Review and support data collection and analysis for the medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) letters in consultation with the Office of Medical Education.
  • Manage and respond to internal and external ad-hoc data requests and reporting needs in consultation with Office of IDEAS leadership.
  • Perform routine statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics, exam item psychometrics, correlation and multiple linear regression analysis, reliability statistics, t-tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA).
  • Collaborate closely with various constituents to serve as the reports coordinator, generating, analyzing, and disseminating data to all appropriate internal and external entities.
  • Support data-driven decision-making and planning.
  • Develop and manage individual module gradebooks for pre-clerkship courses, including uploading grades into student information systems.
  • Maintain longitudinal data files, tracking student performance data across the curriculum and ensuring data integrity for statistical analysis and educational research.
  • Support data governance initiatives, including developing and maintaining data dictionaries and systems and process documentation.
  • Maintain course- and exam-specific data files for end-of-course and end-of-phase reports.
  • Assist with the design and development of specific databases for collection, tracking, and reporting of curriculum, performance, and evaluation data.
  • Manage the timely development, administration, and reporting of institutional surveys.
  • Track student completion of faculty and module evaluations for pre-clerkship courses.
  • Support accreditation, continuous quality improvement, and strategic planning efforts, including survey and evaluation administration and data reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in data analysis, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of administrative and business management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to learn USC SOMG fiscal policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of report analysis techniques.
