Data and Gift Specialist I

About the position

The Data and Gift Specialist I at Children's Mercy is responsible for processing charitable donations and maintaining accurate donor records. This role requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The specialist will utilize critical thinking to ensure data integrity and support the philanthropic operations of the hospital and foundation.

Responsibilities

• Enter information and create records for donors, volunteers, and event attendees into Raiser's Edge.
• Maintain accurate records for periodic reporting requirements and perform data clean-up.
• Collect, evaluate, sort, and total daily donations for processing.
• Prepare and balance batches for remote deposit and analyze gifts for appropriate campaigns and funds.
• Process credit card and online donations, including refunds as needed.
• Track major fundraising events in the donor software program.
• Perform data entry and reconciliation procedures to comply with hospital and IRS rules.
• Assist with data integrity projects and maintain biographical information in the donor database.
• Volunteer at special events and produce honor/memorial cards and acknowledgments.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience in fundraising or philanthropic operations, including data entry and gift processing.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Basic computer skills and internet research capabilities.
