About the position

The Data and Gift Specialist I at Children's Mercy is responsible for processing charitable donations and maintaining accurate donor records. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The specialist will ensure the integrity of donor information and assist in various data integrity projects, contributing to the overall mission of the hospital to improve the lives of children.

Responsibilities

  • Enter information and create records for donors, volunteers, and event attendees into Raiser's Edge.
  • Maintain accurate records for periodic reporting requirements.
  • Process daily donations, evaluate, sort, and total all donations received.
  • Prepare and balance batches for remote deposit.
  • Analyze gifts to determine appropriate campaigns, funds, and appeals for processing.
  • Enter and process coding, receipts, and thank you letters into the Raiser's Edge database.
  • Process credit card and online donations, including refunds as needed.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy and Children's Mercy staff regarding gifts received.
  • Track major fundraising events in the donor software program.
  • Perform data entry and reconciliation procedures to comply with hospital and IRS rules.
  • Assist with data integrity projects and maintain accurate donor information.
  • Volunteer at special events as needed.
  • Produce and mail honor/memorial cards and acknowledgments daily.
  • Inventory office supplies and maintain security of donation materials.
  • Answer main line telephone.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in fundraising or philanthropic operations, including data entry and gift processing.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Excellent customer service skills and tactful communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar donor management software.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
