About the position

The Data and Research Scientist at Branex Group is responsible for conducting advanced data analysis and automation, mentoring junior researchers, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance business outcomes through data-driven insights. This role requires strong technical and statistical skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex data findings effectively. The ideal candidate will have a background in data science and analytics, with a focus on the auto industry preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced data analysis and automation, performing in-depth analysis and designing search patterns.
  • Develop automation tools for data mining and reduction.
  • Mentor junior researchers and data scientists to enhance their analytical skills.
  • Stay informed on technological advancements and identify cutting-edge solutions for research objectives.
  • Establish strong working relationships with interdisciplinary teams, including Enterprise Data and Analytics and GM IT.
  • Drive the acquisition of new data and refine existing datasets to ensure quality and relevance.
  • Create best practices for research instrumentation and experimentation and share with peer teams.
  • Develop analytics to support complex event processing and real-time data analysis in big data contexts.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in predictive and prescriptive analytics, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Use a structured approach for communicating data insights through data storytelling.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a STEM field preferred, Master's degree in a STEM field required.
  • 8+ years of experience using data to solve problems, hypothesis testing, and creating visualizations.
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture and database management.
  • Solid experience with Big Data technologies, particularly in the Data Bricks platform using Python/R.
  • Strong technical, statistical, and mathematical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the auto industry is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong data storytelling, communication, and presentation skills.
