About the position

The Data Architect position at Orchard LLC involves supporting a Federal contractor focused on financial management, data analytics, and IT infrastructure, particularly for the Department of Defense. The role requires an active Secret clearance and is aimed at junior to mid-level professionals who will contribute to data modeling, system analysis, and the establishment of data management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the analysis and validation of data models and other solution components to ensure they meet the intent of the client's strategy.
  • Document future-state data models, data flow, and interfaces to meet the business requirements of the mission.
  • Support system analysis, software changes, and integrations across multiple technologies.
  • Review client data policies, data lineage, system data fields, and metadata attributes to support the Data Catalog and understand how the relevant data model will impact day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to establishing data management strategies, principles, models, and standards.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in applicable field
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is required
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience writing and reviewing architecture models following the DoDAF, (Department of Defense Architectural Framework).
  • Experience using project management tools like Atlassian Jira, ServiceNow, Confluence, etc.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with both technical and functional team members
  • Strong ability to break down problems, structure your work and that of others, and deliver outcomes and valuable outputs on aggressive timelines
  • Experience with complex problem-solving strategies, able to determine the source of a problem and find an effective solution(s) through an in-depth evaluation of varying factors, a strong capacity for abstract reasoning and creative visioning
  • Experience using Enterprise Architecture tools like ARIS, Enterprise Architect, etc.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient in Agile practices, methodologies, and tools
  • Experience supporting large-scale IT transformation with multiple stakeholders and ensuring integration/collaboration occurs across all parties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with large-scale government ERP finance implementations and data
  • Prior experience writing and reviewing architecture models following the Army Business Enterprise Architecture (ABEA).
  • Experience facilitating collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working remotely within a large project
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment
  • Experience in SQL, Python, data modeling, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning preferred
  • Hands-on experience with data management, data architecture, and data modeling within the DoD.
