About the position

The Data Architect & Engineering Lead at Finexio will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable data architecture solutions that support the company's payment processing and administrative operations. This role involves crafting data models, implementing strategies, and interfacing with engineering teams to ensure the effective management of data across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and experience in the fintech industry.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements and establish data models for Finexio's Operational Data Store (ODS) and Master Data Management (MDM).
• Interface with executive management and IT engineering to develop joint IT design and sprint plans for data architecture.
• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of data-related projects using agile methodologies.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to report on data initiatives and progress.
• Participate in product strategy sessions to provide insights on data enhancements.
• Design data structures and models for complex analytical queries and real-time data integration.
• Conduct analyses of database operations and implement query optimizations.
• Optimize data storage across relational and non-relational platforms.
• Design and validate fail-over solutions for data accessibility and recovery.
• Document current and future data architecture flows.
• Assess new fintech tools and database solutions for transaction efficiency and security.
• Implement automation in data ingestion and processing using ETL tools.
• Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
• Implement encryption and data masking techniques for sensitive information.
• Develop education programs on data handling and compliance.
• Stay updated on financial regulations and adapt data security strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a fintech environment.
• Expertise in SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL database systems (AWS DocumentDB / MongoDB).
• Proficient in C# and TypeScript.
• Experience with payments-related APIs (Banking, MasterCard, Discover, Visa, etc.).
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (PowerBI, Google Sheets, BigQuery).
• Experience with data integration tools (Fivtran, Hightouch).
• Knowledge of CRM BI tools (Salesforce).
• Experience with emerging AI solutions in operations support and business analytics.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering scalable data architectures.
