About the position

CapTech Data Architects play a crucial role in aligning our clients' business objectives with the latest technologies to develop effective strategies for successful data delivery implementations. Our mission is to enhance our clients' business value by optimizing data usage, improving information stewardship, and streamlining data flows. By gaining a deep understanding of our clients' unique business challenges, our Data Architects leverage their experience and utilize cutting-edge tools and techniques to identify the most effective solutions. We view our Data Architects as thought leaders in the data domain, tasked with nurturing CapTech talent and expanding our data and analytics delivery capabilities. The responsibilities of a Data Architect at CapTech include assessing and advocating for data management technologies and practices, effectively bridging the gap between the current state and a well-defined future state. They are responsible for interpreting and delivering impactful strategic plans that enhance data integration, quality, and delivery in support of various business initiatives and roadmaps. Additionally, Data Architects must formulate and articulate architectural trade-offs across different solution options, ensuring that all technical requirements are met before recommending the optimal solution. Motivating and developing staff is also a key responsibility, as Data Architects are expected to teach, empower, and influence both technical and consulting soft skills. Collaboration with client stakeholders and development teams is essential to ensure that data architecture recommendations maximize the value of client data across the organization. Furthermore, Data Architects drive innovative technology solutions by providing thought leadership on emerging trends and sharing project solutions and outcomes with colleagues to enhance future project delivery. They also partner with the CapTech business development team to showcase our technical capabilities, envision proposed solutions, and estimate work plans.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and advocate for data management technologies and practices to eliminate gaps between current and future states.
  • Interpret and deliver impactful strategic plans to improve data integration, quality, and delivery in support of business initiatives.
  • Formulate and articulate architectural trade-offs across solution options before recommending optimal solutions.
  • Motivate and develop staff through teaching, empowering, and influencing technical and consulting soft skills.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders and development staff to maximize the value of client data across the organization.
  • Drive innovative technology solutions through thought leadership on emerging trends.
  • Share project solutions and outcomes with colleagues to improve future project delivery.
  • Partner with the business development team to demonstrate technical capabilities and estimate proposed work plans.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with on-premises and cloud data management, integration, visualization, and analytical technologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in end-to-end data architecture solutions including ingestion, storage, and relational modeling using SQL and Python.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and implementing modern data architectures and concepts such as cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), real-time data distribution (Kafka, Kinesis, DataFlow, Airflow), NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, HBase, CosmosDB), and modern data warehouse tools (Snowflake, DataBricks).
  • Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions to business needs and client culture.
  • Ability to assess traditional and modern data architectural components based on business needs.
  • Familiarity with recommending data governance best practices including MDM, security, privacy, and policies.
