About the position

This technical role oversees data engineering solutioning, delivery, and execution of business prioritized IT projects. The primary responsibility is to provide guidance, structure, technical and delivery expertise to project teams. These projects are data-focused and of significant size and complexity, often delivered through a combination of internal and external teams. The position requires driving analysis, design, technical solutioning, testing, and operational specifications developed by the project team to ensure that the final work product meets all quality standards and aligns with business goals. Collaboration with technology, operations, and business partners is essential for project planning, execution, technical direction, implementation, readiness, and communication of large-scale data projects. Close partnership with IT management is necessary to align resource capacity and demand requirements, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role also requires effective management of relationships and delivery with external vendor partners, identifying and removing roadblocks, and escalating issues through proper management channels when resource deliverables are not in alignment with expectations or contracts. The position demands the ability to drive team efficiencies through effective partnerships, balancing competing requirements and interests, and keeping the team focused on top priorities. The individual will promote and contribute to Voya's delivery methodologies, standards, and tools, naturally leading and commanding authority, influencing and inspiring without control. Accountability for valued business outcomes is crucial, as is facilitating lessons learned and knowledge retention for future use.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience working with limited supervision and guidance and applying advanced technology project leadership and systems skills, tools, and techniques to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
• Diverse experience in the data domain including technology such as analytics, MDM, cloud, ML, AI, and integration.
• Previous experience as a Java developer who has worked to make data readily available to frontend systems.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in IT with a deep understanding of data analytics applications.
• Experience developing technical solutions and driving implementation.
• Experience directing technical efforts by providing direction and technical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a directly related field and/or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated success in project execution with involvement in multiple major projects or a sustained record of success as an IT services provider.
• Agile and SDLC experience.
• Effectively utilize current project planning, reporting, and support tools.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
