About the position

As a Data Architect in the Digital Enablement Unit at Travelers, you will lead the creation of the technology target state, collaborating with senior technology leaders to transform business and technology capabilities. This role involves hands-on prototyping, architecture direction, and continuous technology transformation, with a focus on modern technologies such as Cloud-native, APIs, AI, and ML. You will work within a community of architecture leaders, contributing to a unified architecture vision while fostering enjoyable working relationships among team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture efforts within the Digital Enablement segment of Technology.
• Document data mapping for operational application data.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and engineers to adopt AWS services and Travelers Enterprise Capabilities.
• Conduct technology proof of concepts to ensure architectural feasibility.
• Prototype new technology solutions hands-on.
• Provide architectural direction for engineers supporting technical patterns.
• Display thought leadership in modern architecture principles and technology modernization.
• Drive continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt.
• Participate in defining target state technology architecture and roadmaps.
• Build partnerships with engineering to align skills with technology direction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of technology engineering experience.
• Experience in an agile operating model.
• Proven experience in proof of concepts and technology.
• Strong software engineering experience.
• Experience with technology modernization initiatives, including cloud migration and API strategy.
• Current experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, and DevSecOps.
• Foundation in traditional relational databases (Oracle, SQL).
• Experience with Snowflake or DataBricks and Kafka.
• Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or strong architecture experience on Cloud.
• Good understanding of security and large-scale technology platforms.
