About the position

The Data Architect position involves providing technical expertise in data management and system design for government clients, specifically focusing on improving information sharing and data usability. The role requires an active Secret clearance and entails working collaboratively within a team to deliver project objectives while ensuring effective communication across all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise regarding data dictionaries, catalogues, and ontologies to guide the design and interface of systems.
  • Identify data inputs leveraging available data sources, manipulate and map data and interfaces, generate output, and provide documentation in a Government-approved format.
  • Research and develop policy or whitepapers that support plans and projects for data activities.
  • Provide DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) support.
  • Provide recommendations, guidance, research, and support on the client's tools and task management solutions.
  • Provide IT strategic advice to government staff, both senior leaders and action officers.
  • Identify new initiatives or issues that relate to the client.
  • Identify installation solutions for new databases and determine the requirements for a new database.
  • Publish and/or present design reports and identify areas for improvement in current systems.
  • Coordinate with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines.
  • Audit database regularly to maintain quality and create systems to keep data secure.

Requirements

  • 10+ years overall experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher level of education.
  • Proficiency in math and computer science.
  • Ability to analyze and present statistical information.
  • Mastery of specific types of databases, such as relational or foundational databases.
  • Experience with database management software.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Ability to lead an IT team and explain complicated concepts in simple terms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and multitasking ability.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Advanced analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and develop excellent client relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with CDAO/CDO organizations.
  • Experience and understanding of Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2).
