About the position

As a Data Architect at UMB, you will play a crucial role in modernizing the data infrastructure and driving data architecture strategies across the enterprise. This position involves collaborating with senior leadership and stakeholders to enhance data management practices, implement data governance, and develop complex data models. The role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence in Kansas City on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while also being open to qualified remote candidates within the US.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating and driving data architecture strategy across the enterprise.
  • Identifying and developing effective data management practices in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Leading design and implementation of data governance, data classification/curation, data lineage, and master data management standards.
  • Forward and reverse engineering databases to established technical and metadata standards.
  • Creating and maintaining complex conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a data management practitioner designing and implementing cloud data architecture.
  • At least 5 years of experience presenting data architecture and rationalization for change to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • In-depth experience with Snowflake and data modeling including Star Schemas.
  • Experience implementing data governance tools like Alation or Collibra.
  • A passion for cloud data technology and modernizing technology.
  • A business-first mindset and comfort with change, along with a passion for learning new technologies.

Nice-to-haves
