About the position

As a Data Architect Leader at Cleveland Clinic, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and optimization of data warehouse solutions. This role focuses on leveraging modern tools and technologies to create secure, scalable, and high-performance data ecosystems that enhance data integration, analysis, and reporting, ultimately improving patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the current on-premises infrastructure and applications to determine migration needs.
  • Develop a migration strategy and roadmap with analytic leadership, prioritizing high-value assets.
  • Ensure security measures and compliance requirements are met during migration and deployment.
  • Plan and execute the migration of data from on-premises systems to the cloud.
  • Consider various data transfer methods for migration.
  • Validate data integrity and consistency post-migration.
  • Architect and design cloud-based data warehouse solutions for healthcare entities.
  • Define healthcare-specific data models, schemas, and data flow processes.
  • Devise strategies for data assets in a data lake/lakehouse/warehouse.
  • Build technology prototypes and occasionally code production deliverables.
  • Develop, standardize, and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Implement data validation and quality checks for patient information integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations during data solution architecture.
  • Stay updated with relevant cloud technologies for healthcare data management.
  • Develop architectures for data lineage, quality, and stewardship management.
  • Facilitate data governance practices specific to healthcare data.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to establish security measures for patient data.
  • Design scalable cloud data warehouses to accommodate increasing healthcare data volumes.
  • Leverage cloud platform features for optimal data retrieval.
  • Implement cloud monitoring tools to track performance and cost of resources.
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization for cost-effectiveness and performance requirements.
  • Monitor resource consumption and recommend adjustments based on usage patterns.
  • Collaborate with healthcare data analysts and clinicians to design supportive data structures.
  • Enable the creation of analytics dashboards and predictive modeling assets.
  • Work with healthcare IT teams to align data warehouse solutions with organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to other Data Architects and mentor within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, MIS or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of healthcare provider data models, preferably Epic.
  • Previous experience in data cloud/warehouse/architecture deployment for large enterprises.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake, Azure) and their healthcare-specific services.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Hands-on proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, and/or Scala.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
  • Experience with Data Streaming technologies like Kafka is preferred.
  • Experience with Machine learning frameworks is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
