About the position

As a Data Architect at Community Health Systems, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our company's Google Cloud Platform and Oracle database system. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity, security, and optimal performance of the database, which is vital for the smooth operation of critical business processes and data management. You will collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Reporting Analysts to develop and support the company's data management and reporting needs. This position is essential in supporting our mission to provide safe, quality healthcare and to build enduring relationships with our patients while delivering value to the communities we serve. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining Oracle Database Software, working with Oracle Cloud Services to ensure proper installation, patching, and upgrades. You will also manage user accounts, roles, and permissions, and train users on how to access and utilize the database effectively. Implementing security protocols to safeguard data is another critical aspect of your job, along with monitoring access and permissions to ensure compliance with security standards. Regular database backups will be part of your routine to prevent data loss, and you will develop recovery procedures to restore data when necessary. Performance tuning will also be a key responsibility, where you will monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and configurations. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and debug database-related issues, collaborating with developers to enhance application performance. Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures will be essential to ensure clarity and continuity in operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Oracle Database Software and work with Oracle Cloud Services to ensure proper installation, patching, and upgrades.
  • Set up and manage user accounts, roles, and permissions, and train users on accessing and utilizing the database.
  • Implement security protocols to safeguard data and monitor access and permissions.
  • Regularly backup the database to prevent data loss and develop recovery procedures for data restoration.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and configurations.
  • Investigate and resolve database-related issues, collaborating with developers to troubleshoot application performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with Oracle Fusion API.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse (FAW).
  • Data Modeling experience.
  • Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) skills.
  • Knowledge of database backup procedures, recovery systems, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, etc. and APIs.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology or related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Google Suite.
  • Experience with Looker Studio (or similar reporting tools and methodologies).
  • Experience with Looker Platform.
  • Data Warehousing (Cloud) experience.
