About the position

The Data Architect position at the Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a strategic role focused on advising and developing data architecture strategies, including cloud technologies and advanced platforms. This remote position, available to candidates anywhere in Colorado, aims to leverage technology and innovation to provide scalable solutions to complex business problems while ensuring alignment with agency needs. The role involves consulting on data strategy, driving innovation, and interfacing with vendor technologies throughout project lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Consulting as a resource on data strategy and architecture to OIT and agency partners.
• Advising in strategic direction and ideation, removing roadblocks, and ensuring alignment with executive expectations.
• Driving innovations and establishing a strong data-driven approach to decision-making across the organization.
• Providing technology expertise by architecting, prototyping, researching, recommending, documenting, and assisting in implementing technical solutions.
• Assessing new data initiatives for compliance with architecture, information security, and data standards.
• Coordinating review processes with project planners and interfacing with vendor technology throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in data architecture, data management, and information classification at the enterprise level.
• Demonstrated experience designing solutions in modern data technology platforms including Cloud (AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Spark).
• Experience in developing and operationalizing architectural and data designs, including data, technology, and infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Data Modeling & Design, Data Security, Data Quality, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Document & Content Management, Metadata, Reference & Master Data, Data Governance, and API Led Connectivity.
• Experience with Erwin, Informatica, Snowflake, Tableau.
