About the position

The Data Architect - SAP S/4 & BW at RTX Corporation is responsible for managing and optimizing SAP S/4 data structures to support analytics, reporting, and business operations. This role involves guiding business teams in utilizing data from SAP S/4 and ensuring compliance with data security and residency regulations. The position emphasizes collaboration across teams to align data architecture with business objectives and maintain a scalable architecture to meet evolving business demands.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of expertise for understanding and navigating SAP S/4 HANA data structures.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of SAP S/4 tables, fields, and relationships to support data needs for reporting and analytics.
• Continuously update data architecture documentation for team accessibility.
• Ensure compliance with data security standards and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Address data residency requirements for sensitive data storage and processing.
• Collaborate with IT security to implement safeguards for data access and encryption.
• Collaborate with business users to understand new data requirements and provide guidance on data retrieval from SAP S/4.
• Translate business needs into technical data requirements for reports and analytics.
• Identify opportunities to optimize data retrieval processes.
• Ensure SAP S/4 and BW data structures are optimized for performance.
• Design and maintain a semantic layer within SAP BW for meaningful insights.
• Work closely with technical teams to optimize ETL processes.
• Partner with various teams to align data architecture with business objectives.
• Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams for data structure and accessibility.
• Lead training and knowledge-sharing sessions on data structure and security.
• Collaborate with the data governance team to establish policies around data security and usage compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of the SAP S/4 and BW data architecture.
• Implement governance practices to maintain data quality.

Requirements

• Typically 12+ years' of experience in data architecture or related area and a bachelor's in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of related work and schooling in lieu of degree; Advanced degree and 10+ years' related work.
• 10+ years' expertise in SAP, S/4 and SAP BW.
• 10+ years' deep understanding of data security, data residency, and regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

• Proven track record of managing complex data architectures in large ERP environments.
• Strong knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA data structures across functional areas.
• Proficiency in data security principles and compliance with data residency regulations.
• Hands-on experience with ETL processes and optimizing SAP BW for reporting and analytics.
• SAP certifications in SAP S/4 HANA data architecture or security-related fields.
• Experience in managing large-scale SAP implementations.
