About the position

The Data Architect position in Arlington, VA, is a contract-to-hire role requiring an active Secret Clearance. The role involves providing technical expertise in data management and architecture, focusing on improving information sharing and data usability across various platforms. The Data Architect will work in a hybrid environment, spending three days onsite and two days remote, and will be responsible for guiding the design and interface of systems, as well as supporting the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise regarding data dictionaries, catalogues, and ontologies to guide system design and interface.
  • Identify data inputs leveraging available data sources and manipulate and map data and interfaces.
  • Generate output and provide legible documentation in a Government-approved format, including DoDAF products.
  • Research and develop policy or whitepapers supporting data activities.
  • Provide DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) support.
  • Offer recommendations and guidance on the client's tools and task management solutions.
  • Provide IT strategic advice to government staff, including senior leaders and action officers.
  • Identify new initiatives or issues related to the client.
  • Determine requirements for new databases and identify installation solutions.
  • Publish and/or present design reports.
  • Identify areas for improvement in current systems.
  • Coordinate with team members to reach project milestones and deadlines.
  • Audit databases regularly to maintain quality.
  • Create systems to keep data secure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferred.
  • 10 years of overall experience.
  • Proficiency in Math and Computer Science.
  • Mastery of specific types of databases, such as relational or foundational databases.
  • Ability to lead an IT team.
  • Ability to analyze and present statistical information.
  • Experience with database management software.
  • Strong data management skills.
  • Ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and multitasking ability.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong analytical skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to develop strong client relationships.
