About the position

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Data Architect Team Lead to join our Information Technology department. This role is pivotal in architecting and designing the laboratory's data management framework. The successful candidate will work closely with business leaders and teams to gather and translate information requirements into actionable data solutions that are not only accessible and useful but also secure. The position operates on a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off, and offers the possibility of remote or hybrid work arrangements. As a Data Architect Team Lead, you will report directly to the Senior Manager of Data and Analytics. Your primary responsibilities will include defining the enterprise data architecture framework, establishing standards and principles related to modeling, metadata, security, and reference data. You will also be tasked with translating both business and technical requirements into conceptual designs and specifications, which encompass data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses. Additionally, you will refine data processes to enhance consistency, quality, accessibility, and security across the organization. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work alongside IT leadership, various laboratory departments, partners, and external vendors to create and coordinate networks and working groups aimed at achieving specific goals. As a team lead, you will also have responsibilities that include conducting performance reviews, managing time billing, assisting the department manager in hiring and staff assignments, and mentoring junior personnel. You may act on behalf of the department manager in their absence and will be involved in discussions regarding telework arrangements and merit promotions. This position requires a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship.
