About the position

The Data Architect will serve as the lead technical resource responsible for the strategic oversight and planning of database structural design and development. This role involves providing technical and strategic guidance to senior database administrators and application developers, ensuring the effective creation and maintenance of databases that support evolving applications. The Data Architect will also guide data stewards in developing data models that align with organizational business processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical resource for strategic oversight and planning of database structural design and development.
• Provide technical and strategic guidance to senior database administrators and application developers in creating and implementing new databases.
• Maintain major existing databases supporting evolving applications.
• Consult on the design, development, and implementation of logical database structures and classification schema.
• Develop policies and procedures for building, maintaining, and leveraging the data model.
• Provide guidance on the development of metadata tags, Document Type Definitions (DTD), and schemas using technologies like HTML and XML.
• Ensure metadata and data standards support local business processes and corporate requirements for data sharing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in database architecture and design.
• Expertise in database structural design and development.
• Strong knowledge of metadata standards and data modeling techniques.
• Experience with HTML and XML for schema representation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with government or intelligence agency databases.
• Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards.
