About the position

Are you a seasoned Data Architect with a passion for creating scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures? We're looking for a Data Architect to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy and infrastructure. As a Data Architect, you will report directly to the Director of Data Platforms and lead the design and implementation of data architecture strategies that align with our business objectives. You'll be responsible for building and managing the organization's data architecture, ensuring our data is organized, accessible, and secure. Your expertise will drive the creation of data warehouses, file systems, and databases, while defining how data is collected, organized, and utilized across the company. This is a hybrid position requiring three days onsite per week. Candidates must reside within commuting distance to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust data architectures and best practices to enhance data integration, data quality, and data delivery.
  • Translate high-level business requirements into effective data models, metadata, and data quality standards.
  • Simplify and optimize existing data architecture, focusing on reusable services and cost-efficiency.
  • Improve information flows to ensure ease of access and optimal use of information assets.
  • Conduct research to identify gaps and design innovative data management solutions.
  • Mentor DBAs, Data Engineers, and Data Analysts to enhance their skills in data management and sharing.
  • Ensure alignment of development and maintenance activities with the enterprise data models and roadmap.
  • Foster a data citizenship mindset, promoting responsibility and accountability for data across the organization.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing data models for enterprise data warehouse initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices in data management.
  • Proficiency in modern data architecture tools and concepts, including cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), real-time data distribution (Kafka, Dataflow), and data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks).
  • An Agile mindset with a focus on delivering MVPs and iterative improvements.
  • Experience in technical and financial services environments.
  • Extensive background in data engineering and overall data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong collaborative skills with a proven ability to influence and drive change within a team.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to exploring new solutions.
