About the position

The Data Architect is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the organization's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This role involves governance of data architecture and collaboration with development and IT teams to ensure the EDW is efficient, reliable, and scalable to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and maintains database schemas that support applications and business processes.
  • Monitors and optimizes database performance to ensure optimal query execution and system efficiency.
  • Implements and maintains security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
  • Develops and implements backup and recovery plans to ensure the integrity and availability of data.
  • Plans and executes database upgrades and patching to keep systems up to date and secure.
  • Diagnoses and resolves database-related issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Works collaboratively with IT teams and EDW to manage the EDW fabric environment.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Monitors database usage and trends to anticipate future capacity needs.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in managing relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as T-SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and experience implementing security measures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
  • Preferred experience in DevOps or similar.
