About the position

The Data Architect plays a crucial role in reviewing and analyzing current data infrastructures, planning future databases, and implementing solutions to effectively store and manage data for the organization and its users. This position supports the design, development, testing, and implementation of processes that integrate data from various source systems into the data warehouse, ensuring data governance and quality across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates across teams to understand data and analytics needs and recommends solutions.
  • Translates business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams.
  • Identifies data sources to establish data pipelines and works with product owners to retrieve data efficiently.
  • Develops new data models and implements tables in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
  • Assists with populating and maintaining metadata for better navigation and data governance.
  • Monitors usage and performance of the EDW and addresses any developing issues.
  • Implements new data integrations and supports changes to existing ones.
  • Investigates performance issues with queries and ETL processes, optimizing database speed.
  • Provides support to data analysts for complex problems using advanced SQL and data visualization techniques.
  • Conducts end-user training for the EDW and its applications across the organization.
  • Contributes to the definition and adherence to the EDW team's guiding principles.
  • Interfaces with IT teams to ensure the EDW environments are updated and backed up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Five years of enterprise-level experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge in Cloud/Big Data solutions or related technologies.
  • Expertise in data architecture concepts such as data modeling, workflow management, ETL/ELT, and real-time streaming.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure/Synapse/Power BI, SSIS, Epic EHR, or Workday ERP.
  • Understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical ability with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in managing concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
