About the position

As a Data Architect at CGI Federal, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our data infrastructure to support a large project for a federal government client. This position requires an active Top-Secret clearance and is available in Washington, DC or Huntsville, AL. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture and cloud technologies, particularly in migrating data warehouses while ensuring data integrity and a seamless transition. Your responsibilities will include leading the migration of our data warehouse, optimizing data models, data storage, performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. You will design the necessary changes to existing data pipelines to/from data source systems and optimize ETL processes for performance and reliability. Regular monitoring and improvement of data systems and processes will be essential. Additionally, you will develop and enforce data modeling, governance, and management standards while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with internal teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs. You will also be responsible for communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, providing guidance and recommendations for data-related decisions. This position is crucial for ensuring that our data infrastructure supports the strategic goals of our federal government client.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of our data warehouse, ensuring data integrity and a seamless transition while optimizing for data models, data storage, performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Design data architecture required changes to existing pipelines to/from data source systems.
  • Optimize data pipelines and ETL processes for performance and reliability, regularly monitoring and improving data systems and processes.
  • Develop and enforce data modeling, data governance, and data management standards while ensuring data security and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, providing guidance and recommendations for data-related decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years' experience as a Data Architect.
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, with a focus on data warehouse migration.
  • In-depth understanding of Azure services, networking, security, and identity management.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture patterns, best practices, and cost optimization strategies.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch and OpenSearch, .NET, C#, Javascript, and Java, Terraform.
  • Experience developing and maintaining components in AWS.
  • Familiarity with SpringBoot framework.
  • Active Top-Secret clearance.
