About the position

The role of a Data Architect is crucial in today's digital landscape, where organizations must effectively collect, store, and manage their data to drive growth and efficiency. As a Data Architect, you will leverage your creative and analytical skills to help the Army manage its data assets effectively. This position involves leading the design of data architecture solutions that encompass cloud computing, managed services, and service-oriented architectures. You will collaborate with business analysts and technology teams to address routine data architecture-related issues, making informed decisions and recommendations for future developments in data architecture while analyzing the business needs related to data management. In this capacity, you will be responsible for developing, defining, and documenting the current design features, target architectures, and transformational roadmaps. You will provide a vision for the evolution of the Army ecosystem over time and conduct trade studies to evaluate and compare alternative design solutions. As a subject matter expert (SME) for the Army, you will serve as a problem solver across various Army account programs, offering technical resources, industry-standard methodologies, and proven techniques to lead data solutions. Your expertise in Agile methodologies, Cloud Infrastructure, and Software Management will be essential in defining the scope and approaches for new and emerging opportunities. Your motivation to establish processes and facilitate technological innovation will enable you to make a significant impact on Army data architectures and solutions, ultimately contributing to the organization's transformation in the digital age.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of data architecture solutions for cloud computing and managed services.
  • Resolve routine data architecture-related issues in collaboration with business analysts and technology teams.
  • Develop, define, and document as-is design features, target architectures, and transformational roadmaps.
  • Provide vision for the evolution of the Army ecosystem over time.
  • Conduct trade studies to identify and compare alternative design solutions.
  • Serve as a problem solver and Army SME across Army account programs and opportunities.
  • Recommend data solutions to complex or ambiguous client challenges.
  • Apply Agile, Cloud Infrastructure, and Software Management expertise in defining the scope and approaches to new opportunities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience planning, directing, coordinating, and managing programs, including Data Platforms, Engineering, Data Science, Enterprise Analytics, and Solution Architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience with leadership, including leading cross-functional teams in engineering, architecture, cyber, analytics, and AI/ML.
  • 5+ years of experience leading the design, development, and implementation of production software and complex system integrations.
  • Experience in a Web-based systems architecture and enterprise application environment, Big Data storage systems, Cloud, DoD networks, and infrastructure.
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience with SDLC, including Agile and test-driven methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Army Data programs and capabilities.
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly, including new Web frameworks, open-source technologies, and mobile concepts.
