About the position

The Data Architect at Dexter is a pivotal role responsible for designing and implementing effective database solutions and models that facilitate the storage and retrieval of company data. This position requires a thorough analysis of the company's data needs, followed by the development of database and system data exchange solutions tailored to meet those needs. The Data Architect will ensure the security and efficiency of data storage and retrieval processes, working closely with application developers, BI developers, and other stakeholders to align the data architecture with the company's overarching goals and objectives. In this role, the Data Architect will engage in various key responsibilities, including the design and implementation of database solutions that are not only effective but also scalable. This involves defining the database architecture, which includes creating data models, schemas, and data flow diagrams. The architect will also develop strategies for data integration and data warehousing, ensuring seamless integration across multiple ERP systems and platforms. Additionally, the Data Architect will oversee the development and maintenance of databases, data lakes, and data warehouses, focusing on optimizing database structures for performance and scalability. A critical aspect of this role is ensuring adherence to data governance policies and procedures, maintaining data quality and integrity across all data platforms. The architect will monitor and manage data access and security protocols to ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Data Architect will work with application developers, BI developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and develop appropriate solutions. The role also involves creating and maintaining documentation related to data architecture, policies, and procedures, as well as providing training and support to staff on data management best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
• Define database architecture, including data models, schemas, and data flow diagrams.
• Develop strategies for data integration and data warehousing.
• Ensure data integration across multiple ERP systems and platforms.
• Design and optimize database structures for performance and scalability.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Ensure all data governance policies and procedures are followed.
• Ensure data quality and integrity across all data platforms.
• Monitor and manage data access and security protocols.
• Collaborate with application developers, BI Developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and develop solutions.
• Work with IT teams to implement and maintain data architecture solutions.
• Create and maintain documentation related to data architecture, policies, and procedures.
• Provide training and support to staff on data management and best practices.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of work experience in data architecture, database design or related role.
• Strong knowledge with SQL Server, Azure SQL, Synapse.
• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
• Proficiency in SQL and other database query languages.
• Experience integrating data from multiple different ERP and source data systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
