The Data Warehouse Architect is responsible for handling the delivery of data and information relating to the business intelligence of the organization. This role encompasses two primary areas: ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and Business Intelligence analytic solutions. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader of projects with deep hands-on experience in customer analytics, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling. Essential duties include managing data and analytics, where the architect partners with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements for both data warehouse and analytics design. The architect will also design, develop, and maintain Data Warehouse ETL tools, reports, and analytical tools, ensuring quality assurance against data warehouse databases and reports. The role requires ongoing monitoring and refinement of Data Warehouse tables and reports, providing technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools, and identifying and analyzing errors and inconsistencies in the data. Additionally, the architect will participate in M&A migration discussions and collaborate on the evaluation of systems, as well as engage in SPC LOB technology initiatives to develop solutions meeting the needs of SP&C. This position may also involve teaching and advocating the use of business intelligence tools across levels of the organization, managing projects, and handling Data Warehouse help desk tickets as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements for both data warehouse and analytics design.
  • Define and document business requirements for new data warehouse facts and dimensions and analytic reports.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Data Warehouse extract, translate, and load tools.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reports and analytical tools.
  • Perform quality assurance against data warehouse databases and reports.
  • Monitor and refine Data Warehouse tables and reports on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools.
  • Identify and analyze errors and inconsistencies in the data and provide timely resolutions.
  • Translate data results into written reports, tables, graphs, and charts to convey information to management.
  • Create written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations.
  • Create ad hoc reports and views on a frequent basis to assist management in understanding, researching, and analyzing issues.
  • Teach and advocate the use of business intelligence tools across levels of the organization.
  • Self-manage projects and potentially manage staff, as needed.
  • Handle Data Warehouse help desk tickets as assigned.
  • Participate in discussion and collaboration of due diligence and evaluation of systems during M&A.
  • Participate in the development integration timeline and communications for M&A.
  • Participate in cross-organizational teams to develop solutions meeting the needs of SP&C.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, data science, computer science, management information systems, finance, statistics, or related fields.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years' experience in data warehouse design, ETL, and business and marketing analytics.
  • Deep knowledge of the insurance industry; MedMal experience is a bonus.
  • Informatica experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience leading a project team preferred (this position does not directly supervise team members).
  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with a focus on outcomes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Data Warehouse architecture including BI Practices, Data structures, and data modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of DW ETL tools and utilization.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Oracle, and MS SQL Server.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS PowerBI Analytical platform, including SSRS.
  • Proficient in SQL for use in business analysis and testing efforts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to work with other senior and junior associates; provide coaching to others on the team.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures.
  • Able and willing to collaborate in a team environment and exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, teamwork, and issue resolution.
  • Experience presenting findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Professional image with the ability to form good partner relationships across functions.
