Thanks for stopping by to take a look at the Data Architect role I posted here on Indeed, I appreciate it. If you have read my job descriptions before, you realize that I like to add some humor to these things. So, if you see something that makes you chuckle, that was the attempt. I am abundantly sure that you have probably read job descriptions that seem like a robot put them together. I realized quite a while back that looking for work is about as fun as getting a root canal. So, no bots...no AI...just a guy writing a job description as the day starts to come to a close. I have been recruiting technical talent for over 22 years and been in the tech sector since the 1990's, so I pay attention to social fit almost as much as I do the technical fit. Here are some of the characteristics that create a good social fit for this role: I know the hiring manager's boss for this role quite well. She is not a micro-manager...so, that means you will need to put your big boy or big girl pants on and get done with what you need to get done (in other words, you don't need to be micromanaged). That ability to not just understand the 'how' when it comes to working in those key Data Engineering tasks, but also understands the 'why'... So, for example, if we investigate a schema design or a particular aspect of how this data is architected, will that analysis actually solve the real issue? Or, will it just make it 'ok for now'. This is a firm that thinks of downstream effects, as opposed to just short term fixes. We aren't seeking a 'rockstar'. If you can rock out to Stairway, then you could be a rockstar. Here's my point...we aren't seeking someone with a gargantuan ego or someone that believes they are God's gift to data. This is an environment that craves those who don't just accomplish task A, B or C... They also crave that individual who can see the big picture. This role IS being done 95% remotely (there will be 5% travel to Elkart, Indiana). However, we are really only looking to work with candidates in the US Central Time Zone. In addition, I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card Holders. I cannot work with OPT, EAD, H1 Visa Holders, or anyone else that is not a US Citizen or Green Card Holder. Here is what we are seeking for this role: We are seeking a Data Engineer that is comfortable being the only Data Engineer in a small team. You will, pretty much, be the only Data Engineer sitting in this applications team (there are 7 people in the apps team). You will be responsible for designing and implementing SQL databases. As you might have guessed, you will be working with end users to analyze data needs, ensuring security of data storage (you don't want Stewie from Family Guy to get into that data), and work with the other 7 applications team mates & stakeholders you will be working with.
