As a key member of the BI team, the Data Architect will focus on the ongoing growth and development of the university's operational data store (ODS) and enterprise data warehouse (EDW) capabilities. In this role, the Data Architect will be responsible for sourcing data, which includes extracting, transforming, and loading data while participating in data quality initiatives. The architect will assist in creating data objects and structures that are vital for forecasting revenues and expenses for the institution. This involves integrating data from various sources, ensuring data consistency and integrity throughout the integration process, and performing necessary data validation and cleaning. The position also entails accessing analytical data, where the Data Architect will design and develop business intelligence solutions to support reporting needs. This includes creating reports and dashboards using Wright State's BI tools, such as Oracle DBMS and Microsoft Power BI. The architect will review and analyze existing analytical systems to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency, developing processes and standards for further leveraging these systems. Additionally, the Data Architect will focus on data architecture by developing high-level enterprise logical and physical data models, as well as documenting the structure and layout of operational data systems. This includes detailing the relationships between databases, the ODS, the EDW, and other related data stores. The role also involves managing analytical data, where the Data Architect will assist in implementing and maintaining BI applications, resolving technical problems, and providing support during ODS/EDW upgrades. Participation in the university's Data Governance program and the management of metadata using tools like Data Cookbook are also key responsibilities. Finally, the Data Architect will serve as a member of the institution's BI team, collaborating with various functional areas to map business processes and continuously improve data structures and reporting sources.
