About the position

The Enterprise Data Architect will establish and advocate for enterprise IT data architecture strategies, principles, standards, and policies at a Department of Energy facility. This role requires a subject matter expert in various technical areas, including data strategy, data analysis, data modeling, and data integration. The architect will collaborate with stakeholders to identify creative solutions to data challenges while aligning with future business goals. This position is part of the Enterprise Architecture team and reports to the Program Management and Compliance Group Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and advocate for Enterprise Data Architecture.
  • Create the Enterprise level data vision and strategy, direction, goals, and standards.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise target data architecture to facilitate data retrieval and decision making.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding and documentation of the data topology and inventory.
  • Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term goals.
  • Ensure redundancy of data is minimized and establish a reliable master source when unavoidable.
  • Direct the analysis of the technology environment to detect deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Provide a continually improving set of software and systems engineering practices.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis for future state capabilities.
  • Promote a continuous delivery pipeline and common technical vision.
  • Hold self and others accountable for high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, data science, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis, or related field.
  • Ten years of experience in relevant IT data architecture, business intelligence, data warehouse, data modeling, data analysis, and business analysis.
  • Experience in architecting and deploying IT solutions in a regulated environment with information security implications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis, or related field.
  • Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) certification, Master/Expert level or above.
  • Experience with cloud application architecture and infrastructure as a service.
  • Experience integrating data aspects of architecting AWS and Azure cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking, and technical skills.
