About the position

Cohere is seeking a Data Architect to design, develop, and support database models for mission-critical systems. The role involves active participation in sprint planning, coordination with various teams, and ensuring data integrity and security. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data, strong communication skills, and the ability to present complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in sprint planning and review sessions with the product owner.
  • Design, develop, and support new database models and enhancements to existing databases.
  • Create data dictionaries and business glossaries for business-critical data domains.
  • Develop a data governance framework that aligns with user needs and standards.
  • Implement data architecture initiatives on data quality, governance, standards, and policies.
  • Guide efforts to define the mission, goals, and principles for data strategy and architecture.
  • Establish procedures for detecting and correcting data-quality issues.
  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models.
  • Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
  • Monitor database performance and implement changes as needed.
  • Educate staff members through training and individual support.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI Poly security clearance.
  • Experience in database infrastructure including database, integration services, and reporting services.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to present ideas clearly to high-ranking personnel.
  • Experience in developing database design and architecture documentation.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices and standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with coding and computer security.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence for tracking work activities.
