About the position

The Data Business Analyst will play a crucial role in enhancing data efficiencies for a large Midwest-based utilities client. This position involves gathering requirements from internal end users, developing data solutions, and collaborating with the data engineering team to ensure accurate implementation of data analytics needs. The analyst will be responsible for data modeling, profiling, source mapping, and validating the results before presenting them to the end users. This hybrid role requires working onsite two days a week in designated locations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the point of contact for internal end users to gather data requirements.
• Develop solutions to meet data analytics needs, including data modeling and profiling.
• Complete source mapping, data dictionaries, schemas, and recommend storage/warehouse processes.
• Collaborate closely with the data engineering team to communicate expectations and validate results.
• Provide accurate data results back to internal end users after validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing solutions for data engineering and analytics.
• Proficient in creating ETL processes, dimensional modeling, data profiling, and source mapping.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL languages, particularly TSQL and PL/SQL.
• Expertise in data warehousing principles and Kimball methodologies, including Star Schema Models.
• Familiarity with Azure tools such as Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Data Lakes, or Data Studio.
• Experience with Power BI dashboards and semantic models.
• Understanding of profiling RestAPI data.
• Azure Certifications are a plus.
• Power BI Certifications are a plus.
