About the position

The Data Center Architect, Technical Staff, Engineering Technologist role at Dell involves developing next-generation data center infrastructure solutions. This position is part of the Custom Design and Emerging Technology team, focusing on innovative solutions for mechanical, cooling, network, and power technologies. The role requires collaboration with the CTO, sales teams, and high-profile AI customers to optimize data center solutions, driving innovation in areas such as liquid cooling and modular data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple programs simultaneously and present to Dell leadership and external customers.
  • Develop end-to-end data center solutions from compute to the customer data center, including traditional and modular data center architecture.
  • Optimize cost, energy efficiency, and performance from IT to the data center; design, develop, and implement cost-effective testing and troubleshooting methods.
  • Drive the architecture of end-to-end solutions from server to data center, including air and liquid cooled servers, integrated rack solutions, power distribution, and heat rejection.
  • Demonstrate engineering rigor and leadership across various disciplines, including mechanical, power, controls, and thermals, while collaborating with internal teams, ODMs, and suppliers.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience with data center power distribution and thermal technologies.
  • Experience solving complex thermal and power problems at the data center level.
  • Ability to transition from customer problem statements to concept and implementation of complex data center solutions; customer-facing experience is essential.
  • Experience balancing competing priorities to achieve optimal outcomes for stakeholders; excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting to leadership and customers.
  • Deep knowledge of hardware and software interactions, with the ability to apply this understanding to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
