About the position

The Data Center Architect at HDR, Inc. is responsible for leading and managing design activities for technology and data center projects. This role involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors to ensure compliance with codes and standards while producing detailed construction documents. The architect will also engage in construction observation and contract administration, contributing to the overall success of projects in various sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Work on technology and data center projects with multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Lead owner/client and internal meetings and participate in code compliance reviews.
  • Manage design activities and produce detailed construction documents.
  • Review architectural documents for conflicts across disciplines.
  • Perform QA/QC and cross-discipline technical reviews.
  • Write and edit architectural specifications.
  • Coordinate with disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders.
  • Incorporate changes into project documents as agreed upon.
  • Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct work sessions at project sites with client representatives and project managers.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in architecture.
  • Registered Architect status required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule).
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiar with related tools and processes.
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
  • Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills.
  • Commitment to being an active participant in an employee-owned culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Architecture.
  • LEED Accreditation with experience in sustainable design.
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills with knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and Blue Beam pdf editor.
  • 5 years' experience working on Technology or Industrial projects.
