About the position

The Data Center Cable Technician role at TEKsystems involves handling low voltage cabling, specifically CAT5 and CAT6, within a data center environment. The technician will be responsible for installing and terminating cables, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and completing necessary documentation. Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for various setups including floor, modular furniture, and wall.
• Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods.
• Route cable through modular furniture and perform pre-termination procedures.
• Suspend and support cable using appropriate methods such as cable trays and J-hooks.
• Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross connects, racks, and patch panels.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures and install sleeves for cable pulls.
• Terminate low-voltage devices accurately.
• Complete all company paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets and work orders.
• Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.
• Ability to effectively use hand tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with CCTV, Residential, Troubleshooting, Wireless, Access Systems, Life Systems.
