About the position

The Data Center Cable Technician position at TEKsystems is an entry-level role focused on building the cable infrastructure within a data center. Technicians will assist experienced team members in various tasks, including pulling and terminating cables, installing cable trays, and constructing server racks. This role provides an opportunity to learn essential skills in telecommunications and data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for floor and wall applications.
• Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods.
• Route cable through the data center.
• Perform pre-termination procedures including organizing, forming, dressing cables, and determining length and slack.
• Suspend and support cable using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Follow blueprints accurately.
• Complete all company paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets and work orders.
• Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• Any telecom experience, including installing cable trays, pulling cable/fiber, punch down, and termination.
• Experience working with hand tools.
• Construction experience, including following blueprints and building.
