About the position

The Data Center Construction Technician at NTI Connect LLC is responsible for supporting the installation of various infrastructure components within data centers. This role involves hands-on work in the field, ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety procedures while collaborating with team members and management to drive operational efficiency. The technician will also be involved in interpreting engineering drawings, maintaining accurate field notes, and managing project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Perform data center cage and overhead ladder rack installations in accordance with industry standards.
• Read and follow design engineers' instructions and specifications, maintaining the scope of work on the project and adhering to safety procedures.
• Prepare engineering field notes and interpret engineering drawings, making recommendations for changes as required.
• Understand and adhere to customer timelines and budget-minded behaviors to ensure profitability on projects.
• Utilize a network of contacts to source high-quality Project Managers and Technicians.
• Serve as a corporate liaison to champion cultural change and enhance organizational morale.
• Coordinate and communicate activities with other employees, departments, and management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant job experience in data center or telecommunications.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of basic tools, construction practices, and communication networks.
• Knowledge of cable installation practices and safety measures in data centers.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and make sound decisions based on information given.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with fiber optic cable types and testing procedures.
• Knowledge of various manufacturers' ISP racks, cabinets, and termination panels.
• Familiarity with basic AC and DC power plants.
