About the position

The Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer V plays a vital role in maintaining the critical infrastructure of data centers, which are essential for supporting various critical services such as hospitals and public safety centers. This position involves performing repairs, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring the operational efficiency of HVAC systems and other critical facilities infrastructure. The engineer will work closely with a team to deliver best-in-class service while adhering to safety regulations and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site inspections and supervise the building and Data Center alarms.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on-site infrastructure, including maintenance of primary infrastructures, or lead vendors.
  • Perform routine maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including cleaning and replacing filters, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting electrical connections.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with HVAC systems, including identifying and repairing leaks, faulty wiring, and malfunctioning components.
  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as checking refrigerant levels, calibrating thermostats, and testing system performance.
  • Install and replace HVAC equipment, including compressors, motors, fans, and thermostats.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of critical infrastructure such as UPS, generator, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems.
  • Complete site logs and data gathering for basic permits, such as MOPs and scripts.
  • Respond to all on-site incidents and act as needed.
  • Provide assistance during critical maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate effectively within the department and provide recommendations to peers for general maintenance activities.
  • Carry out basic infrastructure projects.
  • Work in a 24/7 operation, demonstrating flexibility to work any assigned shift, off-schedule, fill in for workmates, and respond to emergencies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience with critical infrastructure or commercial/Industrial HVAC and/or Electrical maintenance, including troubleshooting, monitoring, and routine maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions, including walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting, and manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work days/nights/weekends/holidays, if needed and/or required.
  • Able to lift heavy equipment/items up to 50 pounds.
