About the position

As a Data Center EHS and Security Operations Technical Program Manager (TPM) at ByteDance, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Security Operations (SecOps) teams within our infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on developing and leading on-site security operations and vulnerability remediation efforts across our data centers and network Points of Presence (PoPs). You will serve as the point of contact for security issues that occur on-site and assist the incident commander during incidents, ensuring that all security protocols are followed and that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively. In this role, you will be expected to act as a subject matter expert for all security control and related process areas. You will help develop strategies for improving electronic surveillance and access control systems, ensuring that our data centers are secure and compliant with industry standards. Additionally, you will analyze and oversee scheduling and staffing requirements for areas of responsibility, ensuring that all security operations are adequately supported. You will support SecOps managers by facilitating security project deliverables, devising security strategies, achieving financial targets, and improving overall operational security. Your responsibilities will also include managing all aspects of program management, such as planning, incorporating dependencies, key milestones and deliverables, data gathering, analysis, communication, risk management and mitigation, status tracking and reporting, implementation, monitoring, execution, and delivery of initiatives and programs. Collaboration will be key in this role, as you will need to influence and work across various organizations, including engineering, product, security, legal, compliance, and finance. You will communicate program plans, risks, and issues to stakeholders and partner with leadership to identify and solve cross-functional challenges. Your ability to manage complex programs and drive strategic initiatives will be essential to the success of the EHS and Security Operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and leading on-site security operations and vulnerability remediation efforts across our data centers and network PoPs environment.
  • Support as the point of contact for security issues that occur on site and aid the incident commander in the event of an issue.
  • Assist in serving as the subject matter expert for all security control and related process areas.
  • Help develop strategies for improving electronic surveillance and access control systems.
  • Aid in analyzing and overseeing scheduling and staffing requirements for areas of responsibility.
  • Support SecOps managers and facilitate security project deliverables; help devise security strategies, achieve financial targets, and improve overall operational security.
  • Assist in driving strategic, cross-functional initiatives related to EHS and Security Operations.
  • Help manage all aspects of program management, including planning, incorporating dependencies, key milestones and deliverables, data gathering, analysis, communication, risk management and mitigation, status tracking and reporting, implementation, monitoring, execution, and delivery of initiatives/programs.
  • Aid in influencing and collaborating across organizations including engineering, product, security, legal, compliance, finance, and more to effectively build commitment with execution teams, negotiate competing requirements, ensure alignment and program progress, and improve processes.
  • Communicate program plans, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and solve cross-functional challenges.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data center physical security or security operations.
  • 3+ years of experience with risk management and vulnerability assessments for data centers.
  • Excellent organizational direction, time management, problem-solving, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
