About the position

The Data Center Electrical Engineer at Google is responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of electrical systems within data centers. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure compliance with codes and standards while optimizing for efficiency and sustainability. The engineer will manage multiple projects, provide technical support, and drive implementation of innovative electrical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to data center services and operations teams to define electrical system design requirements for multiple and simultaneous Data Center (DC) projects from inception through completion.
  • Collaborate with Data Center Delivery and Engineering (DCDE) core teams to develop, implement, and manage the DC electrical designs at site starting from Basis of Design (BOD) to Issued for Construction (IFC) data center services documents for new DC projects build outs, infrastructure upgrades, and renovations.
  • Gain a detailed understanding of the electrical project requirements ongoing at the site.
  • Manage site bug process and coordinate with DCDE cross-functional teams for technical support.
  • Participate in new technology insertions through collaboration with the core engineering team to provide site specific requirements during the development of site specific BOD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in fast-track mission critical facility design and construction.
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of medium/low voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, and associated power management/SCADA tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Experience in large-scale mission critical facilities and their electrical/mechanical infrastructure
  • Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, emergency power systems and their control systems, power monitoring, and electrical protection.
