About the position

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Data Center facilities. This position involves performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation, which is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. You will be responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and safely. Your daily tasks will include assisting with site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, ensuring that the environmental conditions of the site provide a safe work environment. You will react to Building Management System alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed, working closely with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. It is essential to alert management if subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement. In this role, you will complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment, check the Building Management System (BMS) for running and alarm conditions, and respond to HVAC-related client problems. You will conduct building walkthroughs, take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities, and provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects. Following established processes and procedures, you will complete assigned work while adhering to all safety processes and regulatory requirements. Routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records will also be part of your responsibilities, along with completing all required training to ensure successful job performance. This position requires you to use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems, with limited opportunities to exercise discretion. Your impact will be defined through clearly outlined duties, methods, and tasks, and you will deliver your output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
  • React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in either HVAC or Electrical preferred.
