About the position

Peraton is seeking a Data Center Engineer to join our team, focusing on infrastructure engineering for periodic data center refreshes and the integration of new data center technologies, including future cloud capabilities. This role is critical in supporting a robust, world-wide communications network that provides office automation packages, document and information management tools, and collaboration, voice, and video tools within a secure, flexible, distributed architecture that supports a classified DoD IT system. The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for designing, delivering, and optimizing Infrastructure Services to enhance security, availability, performance, and resource utilization in our data centers. The successful candidate will review current infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify potential improvements. They will analyze, refine, and document the requirements for transitioning from legacy hardware into a modern data center infrastructure environment. This includes designing and building host and tenant environments with security-hardened configurations for infrastructure services, as well as establishing ongoing maintenance practices and procedures for service patching and updates. Additionally, the Data Center Engineer will design virtual infrastructure services to maximize the available capacity of physical compute, storage, and network hardware resources. They will document security, configuration, and performance benchmarks of Infrastructure Services and design production infrastructure services that support highly available, private cloud, active-active data center operations. The role also involves designing practices, procedures, automation, and orchestration to provision, de-provision, and entitle compute, storage, and network resources, as well as identifying infrastructure security-relevant actions, tests, and key performance indicators for information dashboard and reporting. Finally, the engineer will design service catalog items for Infrastructure Services for both business and IT technical services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and optimize Infrastructure Services to improve security, availability, performance, and resource utilization in the data centers.
  • Review current infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify potential improvements.
  • Analyze, refine, and document the requirements for transition from legacy hardware into modern data center infrastructure environment.

  • Identify infrastructure security-relevant actions, tests, and key performance indicators for Information Dashboard and Reporting.
  • Design Service Catalog Items for Infrastructure Services for business and IT technical services.

Requirements

  • Bachelors and 5+ years of experience, Masters and 3+ years; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Experience in Infrastructure/Datacenter engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems.
  • Experience in VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite and hybrid cloud with multiple classified Government clouds.
  • Must have a current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level II certification (i.e., Security+ CE).
  • Professional-level Linux, VMware, Network, Storage, or Cloud certifications desired.
  • ITIL Foundations certification desired.
