About the position

The Data Center Engineer at Penn State Health is responsible for assisting in the commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of equipment that supports various services within the organization, including the Infrastructure Platform and College of Medicine Information Technology. This role involves working under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure the efficient operation of data center systems and services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the generation, installation, implementation, and maintenance of operating systems and software packages in a multi-user distributed server environment.
  • Support installation, maintenance, and salvage of Network, Voice, and Data Center systems programs, operating systems, and hardware.
  • Document, design, manage, train, and operate in accordance with Information Systems Operations requirements.
  • Perform Operations functions and facilitate Daily Service Review and Daily Safety Briefing.
  • Maintain a high-quality, customer-focused orientation when providing services to clients and external customers.
  • Support operations and maintenance of Data Center equipment and facilities in coordination with various departments and vendors.
  • Ensure Asset Management updates are completed for all equipment received at the Data Center.
  • Assist server and network operations in isolating and resolving hardware and software problems.
  • Monitor performance of assigned enterprise server systems and improve operational efficiency.
  • Comply with cyber security policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience (2 years).
  • Two (2) years of experience in equipment setup, configuration, installation, and maintenance.
