About the position

The Data Center Engineer at Empower AI will support operations at the GSA Stennis Data Center, focusing on hands-on technical support and problem-solving in a dynamic environment. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to manage data center services, including inventory validation, equipment deployment, and troubleshooting. The engineer will play a critical role in the design, build, and capacity expansion of data center solutions, ensuring optimal performance and future-proofing strategies for the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory validation of data center compute, storage, networking, and environmental support equipment.
  • Collaborating with various IT teams to facilitate change management, logistics, and coordination.
  • Facilitating the packaging and shipping of equipment to alternate data centers.
  • Coordinating with Data Center Operations on the install at destination data centers.
  • Develop and execute Data Center technical drawings (ex. rack elevations, floor layouts).
  • Capacity Expansion of servers, storage, and network devices.
  • Be intensely involved in design, build, migration, and capacity expansion; work on the problems and contribute to the solution development.
  • Responsible for coordinating new hardware deployment and decommissioning of existing hardware.
  • Responsible for hands-on Equipment Troubleshooting, Parts replacement, and Vendor escorting.

Requirements

  • Public Trust Clearance by start date.
  • ITILv4 Foundation Training and ITILv4 Foundation Certification, may be obtained within 120 days after hire.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience as a Data Center Engineer.
  • On-call 24x7 with onsite response time requirements.
  • Strong aptitude for an independent working environment and high productivity rate.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting industry standard software products.
  • Experience with Sunbird DCIM.
  • Direct experience with Data Center design and operations.
  • Direct experience using ServiceNow or other ticketing tools for ticket management and inventory management.
  • Server, OS, Network, BICSI or data center certification is a plus.
