About the position

DRW is seeking a Data Center Engineer to manage the architecture and operations of our data centers in the NY/NJ metro area. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our global data centers and ensuring that all operations meet our high standards of excellence. The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for racking and cabling servers and other equipment, performing network infrastructure cabling, and participating in expansion planning for all DRW data centers. Additionally, this position involves monitoring environmental conditions within the data centers, maintaining documentation within our Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool, and ensuring optimal air conditioning and power conditions for our facilities. The role also includes performing Windows and Linux server administration, which is essential for the smooth operation of our data centers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center engineering, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience. They will be expected to communicate effectively and collaborate with both internal team members and external vendors. A self-starter attitude and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Strong documentation skills are necessary to capture architecture details, procedures, and other relevant data. The Data Center Engineer will also be required to travel regularly, with approximately 75% of the time spent on local travel and occasional international travel as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on data center engineering experience
  • Previous experience doing network infrastructure cabling
  • Familiarity with HP, IBM, and Dell Servers, Blades, SAN and Cisco equipment
  • Previous experience working with backup software
  • Previous hands-on Windows and Linux server administration experience preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal team members and external vendors
  • Must be a team player and self-starter
  • Strong documentation skills to capture architecture details, procedures, and other relevant data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
