About the position

The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician role at Amazon Data Services involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems within data centers. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and availability of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, supporting the operations of some of the world's most powerful data centers. Technicians will work closely with teams to implement new technologies and practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
• Conduct preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Provide technical writing support for the change management program.
• Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, executing projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on-site support for contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical training (Military/Trade School) or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission-critical infrastructure or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
• 1+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Mechanical knowledge.
