About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a motivated and goal-driven individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team as a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT). This role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of our data centers, which are essential for supporting customer services with an uptime of better than 99.999%. The EOT will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates at peak efficiency. This includes conducting planned preventative maintenance, performing daily corrective work, and responding to emergency situations as they arise. The EOT will serve as both an operator and a first-line resource, reporting directly to the Data Center Facility Manager (FM) and receiving daily instructions from the Chief Engineer (CE). Interaction with third-party vendors is also a key aspect of this role. The technician will maintain compliance with training requirements related to the operation, troubleshooting, and repair of various electrical and mechanical systems, including but not limited to stand-by emergency generators, low and medium voltage electrical systems, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), chilled water systems, water treatment systems, building automation systems, fire detection systems, and server racks. In addition to routine maintenance and emergency response, the EOT is expected to execute small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion. This involves independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups, including engineering, automation, processing, and finance. The technician will be responsible for creating and delivering on key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for necessary costs, and documenting project results. The overarching goal of these projects is to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs within the facilities. The Data Center Engineering Operations Team is dedicated to maintaining the critical infrastructure that supports AWS. This team ensures that the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems operate at near 100% availability while providing first-class customer service to supporting teams and key stakeholders. Responsibilities

• Ensure all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operates at peak efficiency.
• Conduct planned preventative maintenance and daily corrective work.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide timely escalation for facilities-related issues.
• Maintain training compliance for operating, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment.
• Execute small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion.
• Collaborate with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance.
• Create and deliver on key milestones for projects, tracking quotes and documenting results.
• Oversee third-party vendors to ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices.

Requirements

• 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
• 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
