About the position

The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon Data Services, Inc. plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems within data centers. This position involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability and availability of data center operations. Technicians will work closely with teams to implement new technologies and practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
  • Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Conduct rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Engage in technical writing to support the change management program.
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, executing projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide on-site support for contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.

Requirements

  • Technical training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission-critical infrastructure or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
  • 1+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
