As a member of the Data Center Engineering Operations team at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will play a crucial role in maintaining and operating some of the world's most powerful data centers. This position involves working alongside front-line responders to ensure that our critical infrastructure systems are prepared to handle any situation. AWS is recognized for having the largest cloud computing portfolio globally, and as an Amazonian, you will be part of a team that operates in sophisticated, safe, and secure environments. The Engineering Operations Technicians II (EOTs) are essential in keeping these data centers running smoothly by collaborating with talented individuals from around the world to test and implement cutting-edge technology and work practices that meet the evolving demands of the market. In this role, you will be involved in projects of moderate complexity, assisting in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events while adhering to internal Service Level Agreements (SLA). Your responsibilities will include performing rack installations and decommissioning, conducting operational readings, and managing facility operations. You will provide key performance indicators to senior engineers and oversee the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation. Monitoring the performance of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center will be a critical part of your duties, as will ensuring adherence to safety procedures during all work activities. The work schedule may vary based on specific site needs, with shifts lasting up to 12 hours and potential on-call rotations. You will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure equipment of the data center, ensuring an impressive 99.999% uptime for AWS's cloud computing services. This role may require support across multiple locations, and you will need to navigate uneven terrain and perform various physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment as necessary. The AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) team, which you will be a part of, is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring that our customers have continuous access to the services they rely on. You will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations managers, to deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing exceptional service to our customers.
