About the position

The Data Center Facilities Technician at Tesla's Dojo team is responsible for operating and maintaining the facility systems that support the Tesla Dojo supercomputers. This full-time, on-site role requires a hands-on, self-directed individual who can ensure the reliability of mechanical systems and equipment within the facility. The technician will perform daily inspections, develop maintenance plans, and collaborate with the building facilities team to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical systems at the Dojo facilities, including pumps, piping, chillers, cooling towers, and CRAH units.
• Perform daily inspections of critical systems to ensure operational reliability.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for facility equipment.
• Drive the execution of both preventative and emergency maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with the building facilities team to ensure the reliability of systems impacting Dojo spaces.
• Identify and maintain spare parts inventory to minimize equipment downtime.
• Coordinate and supervise scheduled system shutdowns for maintenance.
• Develop and implement energy monitoring metrics to track system performance.
• Support commissioning efforts by witnessing equipment startup and assisting with functional testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on operations or facilities work experience.
• Data center experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems and/or Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Proficient in utilizing hand tools and power tools as needed.
