The Data Center Facilities Technician I, Mechanical position at Google involves working within a team that designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems in the world. As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting the physical conditions of data center facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, including piping and mechanical system components. You will assist senior technicians by reading blueprints and schematics, conducting tours of systems, and assessing their operational status. In this role, you will manage the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as water pumps, HVAC, and control and monitoring systems. You will also be involved in the startup, commissioning, and integration of new mechanical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems, and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you will manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time from failures.
