As a Data Center Facilities Technician at Google, you will play a crucial role in the operation, monitoring, and support of physical facilities conditions within our data centers. The Data Center team is responsible for designing and operating some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems in the world. Your responsibilities will include the heating and cooling of air and water, managing power supply, generators, UPS systems, and overseeing electrical distribution and control monitoring systems. You will regularly inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems, including piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components. In this position, you will advocate for best practices and develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You will ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you will manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time from failures. Your role is vital in maintaining the uptime and reliability of our data center operations, ensuring that all systems function optimally. The Data Center team is a diverse, upbeat, creative, and team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers. You will collaborate with other technicians and engineers to support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure.
